x + y + z = 52

such that the second piece is twice as long as the first

y = 2x

third is 7 cm longer than the second

z = y + 7

 

So,

z = 2x + 7

 

x + 2x + 2x + 7 = 52

5x = 45

x = 9

y = 18

z = 25
