above and setting up to look for an arithmetic average. Bear in mind,
there will be seven scores to average since the final counts twice.
(75+80+70+59+94+2x)/7 = A were A represents the desired final average
Example: If you want to know what score is needed to end up with a
final average of 80% then
(75+80+70+59+94+2x)/7 = 80
378 + 2x = 80(7)
378 + 2x = 560
2x = 560 - 378
2x = 182
x = 91
The student would need a 91 on the final to achieve a class average of 80
