Find three  consecutive odd integers such that four times the middle integer is two less than the sum of the first and third

Let x = the 1st integer, then x+2 is the second and x+4 is the third

 

4(x+2) = x + (x+4) - 2

 

4x + 8 = 2x + 2

 

2x = -6

 

x = -3
