Is there a way to create an equation where the answer is always within a certain range of number (e.g. 1-100)?

I need to know if there is a way to create an equation that always equates to a number in a specific range regardless of which numbers are in the equation itself.

You can do it! I'll show you how.

Thank you so much for your answer! I think this is what I was looking for, but I tried your equation and no matter what value I replace x with, I get 1.x. I can't seem to get any other number in the range 1-100. Am I doing something wrong?

You have to pay close attention to the parentheses and brackets.

y=1 + [99 / (1 + x2)]
Let x=2
y=1 + [99 / (1 + 22)]
y=1 + [99 / 5]
y=1 + 19.8 = 20.8
As x increases, y will move closer to 1.

Start by looking at the denominator of the fraction: (1 + x2).
The x2 term can go to zero, but it can never be negative. It can increase to infinity. [0, inf)
(1 + x2) is just one greater. It can vary in the range of 1 to infinity. [1. inf)

99 divided by (1+x2) = 99 when x=0.
99 divided by (1+x2) approaches 0 as x approaches infinity.
Thus the range of  [99 / (1 + 22)] is (0, 99]

Add 1 to that result and we get a range of 1 to 100:  (1, 100]

I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your response! However, that's not quite what I meant. I'm asking if there is any equation that will always give an answer within a given range. In other words, I want my answer to always be between the number 1-100 regardless of which numbers are on the other side of the equation.
