n/10 + n/2 = 30
Once we find and apply the common denominator, we only deal with the numerators.
2n + 10n = 600
12n = 600
12n/12 = 600/12
n = 50

Rewriting the question:
x/10+x/2=30
x/10+5x/10=30
6x/10=30
6x=300
x=50
Checking the answer:
50/10=5
50/2=25
25+5=30 so 50 is correct!
