Accelerated BSN or 2.5 Traditional route?

I'm torn between 2 different paths. I have no RN license or nursing education but I'm transferring to a 4-year University with my Associates (Gen. Ed.) to pursue my BSN. I'm wanting to get my degree as soon as possible but I'm worried that it will be stressful and an overwhelming amount of information too quickly to let it stick. The accelerated takes about 15 months vs. the 2.5 year traditional BSN option. I would like to know if you obtained your BSN without any prior nursing courses and how long it took, whether or not the information was retained if you took the accelerated option, and if you went the traditional longer route whether or not you feel you should have done it more quickly or are glad that you took your time.

Honestly, most people who attempt the accelerated already have a firm background in biology and chemistry, maybe a course in anatomy and physiology.  It would be quite a challenge to learn enough to pass your qualifying text in just 15 months unless you are already firmly grounded in the above.
