using a formula to determine the size of a flower garden

You have decided to build a circular flower garden in your yard.  Determine the size of your flower garden (by using the diameter in inches) and find the amount of top soil you will need to purchase (volume) if you plan to lay 2 inches of top soil over the entire garden.  Use the formula V = πr2h.

Hmmm.  It seems we may pick our own diameter in inches.  How about 100 inches for the diameter?

 

So,  V = πr2h

 

       V = π (50)(2) = 100π

 

Letting π = 3.14, 100π = 314 cubic inches
