To calculate the 25% discount you can do two different things:
1). Multiply $85 by .25 (85*.25=$21.25). This tells you how much of a discount she receives. Then subtract this amount from the $85 (85-21.25=$63.75).
2). Multiply $85 by 100-25=75%. This tells you the portion of $85 she will pay (85*.75=$63.75)
To calculate the sales tax, you can also approach the problem two different ways:
1). Multiply the discounted amount by 7% (63.75*.07= $4.4625; rounded to the nearest cent $4.46). This tells you the amount of sales tax she will have to pay. Add this back to the discounted price to get the total amount she must pay (63.75+4.46= $68.21).
2). Multiply the discounted price by 107%. This incorporates both steps of #1 into one step. (63.75*1.07= $68.2125; rounded to the nearest cent $68.21)
