When writing an EXPRESSION, there will be no equal (or less than or greater than) sign
In algebra, when we want to show things are multiplied, we can put them in parentheses and just place them next to each other: (9)(x). When we want to multiply a number times a letter, we don't need the parentheses: 9x
When we say "five less than" something else, it means we need to take that something else and go down by 5.
Using all of the above, we get:
9x-5
