you should really try this on a graphing calculator or a site like DESMOS

 

The vertical asymptote exist at the value that makes the denominator equal zero.

 

As b gets larger, the place where the graph doesn't exist gets larger

 

If b =3 , the asymptote is at x=3. If b=11, the asymptote is at x=11
