let's use the equation y=x^2 for starters.
If we reflect across the y axis it's y=-x^2.
If we move a units up it's y=x^2+a
If we move a units down it's y=x^2-a
If we move a units left it's y=(x+a)^2
If we move a units right it's y=(x-a)^2
If we rotate 90 degrees, swap x and y.
