Hello Tiana: Just follow the formula, put the numbers where they belong and solve.
The formula reads: Area is equal to base times height.
A= b x h.
A= 42 h=6.
42= b x 6. It says to multiply, so do the opposite which is to divide.
42 = 6b.

6 6. Now cancel the 6 out from top and bottom and we have.
7 = b. ---> Is your answer. Now next, put 7 in place of the b to make each side true.
42= 6 x 7. Does 6 x 7 equal 42? It must be equal or its a wrong answer.
42 = 42 ? Yes it does, so the answer is correct.
