I keep getting 15. i after distributing i get 9-5x=19-6x-5. Then I add 5 to -5 and 19 to get 9-5x=24-6x. Next I subtract 9 from itself and 24 and get -5x=15-6x. Then I add 6 to -6x and -5x to get x=15. What am I doing wrong?

It looks like you are adding an extra step that is not needed. You are distributing fine to get 9x-5=19-6x-5 at this point on the right side you just need to combine the 19 and -5 since they are on the same side of the equation you do not need to add 5 to both you just need to do 19-5 and you should get 9-5x=14-6x

from here you just isolate

9-5x=14-6x
  +6x     +6x

9+x=14
-9      -9

x=5
