Find k such that the system of equations has no unique solution.

-2x -7y +1z=4
6x -5y -3z=14
kx -2y -z=5

Do you know how to evaluate a 3x3 determinant?  Expand the determinant, and set it equal to zero.  That will give you an equation with k in it, which you can solve for k.
