5s2 = 45
Divide both sides by 5.
s2 = 9
s2 - 9 = 0
This is a difference of squares, which is factored as
s2 - 32 = (s -3)(s + 3)
s = ±3
And yet another way to solve this,
5s2 - 45 = 0
a = 5
b = 0
c = -45
s = {-b ± √(b2 - 4ac)} / (2a)
This should also give
s = ±3
