Adam, Ben, Cath and Dana share some lollies. First Adam takes 3/5 of the lollies, then Ben takes 1/4 of the remainder, and then Cath takes 1/3 of what is left. Dana gets the rest. What fraction of the original number of lollies does Dana get? Must show all working

Adam takes 3/5

1 - 3/5 = 2/5  left after Adam

 

Ben takes (1/4)(2/5) = 1/10

2/5-1/10 = 3/10 left after Ben

 

Cath takes  (1/3)(3/10) = 1/10

3/10 - 1/10 = 2/10 = 1/5 left after Cath

 

Dana gets 1/5 of the Lollies

 

Check: 

Dana + Cath + Ben + Adam = 1

1/5 +1/10 + 1/10 + 3/5 = 1

2/10 + 1/10 + 1/10 + 6/10 = 1

10/10 = 1

1 = 1
