M is 30% of Q, Q is 20% of P and N is 50% of P. Calculate M/N

 

Please show me the way to calculate this! Thanks

M=30%Q, or M=0.3Q

Q=20%P, or Q=0.2P

N=50%P, or N=0.5P

M=0.3(0.2P) because Q=0.2P

M=0.06P

M/N=0.06P/0.5P

M/N=0.06/0.5 (the two Ps cancel)

M/N=6/50

M/N=3/25, or 0.12, or 12% whichever way you need the answer

M = .3Q and Q = .2P, therefore M = .3(.2P) = .06P

N = .5P

 

Therefore M/N = .06P/.5P = .06/.5 = .12

You can solve this by finding ratio of Q to N and then the ratio of M to Q.

 

For Q/N note that 20% = 0.2 and 50% = 0.5

 

so Q/N = 0.2P/0.5P = 2/5

 

so Q = (2/5)N

 

M = 0.3Q = (3/10)Q

 

Substituting:

 

M = (3/10)(2/5)N

 

Dividing both sides by N

 

M/N = (3/10)(2/5) = 6/50 = 3/25
