If you haven't yet learned L'Hopitals rule, this is what you do'
multiply top and bottom by (cosx + 1)
(cosx-1)(cosx+1) = -sin2x

-sin2x /2x2 (cosx+1) = -(1/2)[(sinx)/x]2 / (cosx+1)

we know that lim (sinx)/x = 1 as x approaches zero, so the expression reduces to

-(1/2) / (cosx+1)

now apply the limit with x->0

-(1/2) / (cos(0) + 1) = -(1/2) / 2 = -1/4
