Given that x, 4 and x+6 are consecutive terms of a geometric series, find the possible values of x and the corresponding values of the common ratio.

 Can't quite figure this one out on my own. Any help would be very much appreciated.

x, 4, x+6

4/x=(x+6)/4

16=x(x+6)

x²+6x-16=0

x=2,x=-8

So geometric progession can be as

2, 4, 8, 16,. (q=2)

or

-8, 4, -2, 1,.. (q=-1/2)
