Hello Faith,

There are four Queens and four Aces in a standard deck of 52 cards, and the events are mutually exclusive,

⇒ the probability is (4 + 4) / 52 = 8/52 = 2/13.

 

Using formal notation, it would look something like:

P(Q ∪ A) = P(Q) ∪ P(A) = 4/52 + 4/52 = 1/13 + 1/13 = 2/13.
