Hi David, you have the right idea, the phrase "strictly between" means excluding the endpoints. In general, if you see the word "strict" in math, it means without equality (so strictly less means < and not =, for example). So, if x is strictly between a and b, you'll have a<x<b, and not a≤x≤b.
