Can this equation be factored? y=2x² - 9

y=2x²-9=2(x²-9/2)=2(x-3/√2)(x+3/√2).

Not with integer factors... To use AC, you would list the factors of -18, then see which added to 0

. Use the quadratic formula, then use the answers to write it in factored form. Factoring is not the best way to solve this one.
