percentage of each category is found by dividing the number in a category by the total of all complaints.
In other words, for each percentage, the total will go in the denominator.
When you divide the numerator by the denominator of the fraction, you get a decimal. multiply by 100 and you get your per cent.
For part b, 50% is the same as 1/2. So for the first year, multiply the current number of complaints by 1/2. For the second year, multiply the number after the first year by 1/2.
For example if you start with 100, you have 50 after the first year and 25 after the second year.
From the example above, you can see that the answer to part c is 25% of the original number.
