Why the product of a fraction and a mixed number will be smaller than the mixed number ?

Need to know why the product of a fraction and a mixed number is smaller than the mixed number

If the fraction by which you multiply anything (positive number of any type) is less than 1, i.e. it's a Proper Fraction and it's positive, then the product will always be smaller than the other original number.
