Hi can someone please help me with this problem.

 

Ron has a pay as you go phone and pays for texting and for talking. One month his bill was $35 for 50 texts and 250 minutes talking. the next month he paid $63 for 150 texts and 330 minutes. How much does he pay for each text and for each minute talking? Use equations to get your answer

x = cost of 1 text

y = cost of 1 minute of talking

 

From one month:

 

$35 = 50x + 250y 

 

From the next month:

 

$63 = 150x + 330y

 

Solve for x and y in

 

35 = 50x + 250y

63 = 150x + 330y

 

Use substitution, elimination, Cramer's rule, or whatever other method you may prefer, and get

 

x = 0.2

y = 0.1

 

The price of 1 text is $0.20

The price of 1 minute of talking is $0.10
