3/4 + 1/2b = -3b multiply by 4b to eliminate the fractions
3b + 2 =-12b^2
12b^2 + 3b + 2 = 0 use the quadratic formula
b = -3/24 + or - (1/24)sqr(9-4(12)(2)
there is no real solution, just 2 imaginary solutions, so odds are you really meant
the problem to be:
3/4 + (1/2)b = -3b
multiply by 4 to eliminate the fractions
3 +2b =-12b
14b =-3
b =-3/14
