There are two numbers with a difference of 18. One number is 8 more than half of the other. What are the two numbers

Let x-18 and x be the 2 numbers (note that their difference is 18)

 

x-18 = 8 + x/2

+18      +18

x = 26 + x/2

-x/2       -x/2

x/2 = 26

*2      *2

x= 52

other number is x-18= 52-18= 34
