An airplane took 4 hours to fly 1200 miles against a headwind. The return trip with the wind took 3 hourss. Find the speed of the plane in still air and the speed of the wind.

4(r-s)=1200=3(r+s)

4R-4s=3r+3s

R-7s=0

R=7s

Substituting:

24S=1200

S=50

R=350

The plane travels 350 mph .

The wind speed is 50 mph.
