25 students are going to Italy, Japan and Egypt. the number of students going to Japan or Italy is 5 more than the number of students going to Egypt. The number of students going to Japan is two less than the number going to Egypt. How many students are going to each country?

j + i + e = 25

j + i = 5 + e

j = -2 + e = e - 2

e - 2 + i + e = 25

e - 2 + i = 5 + e

2e - 2 + i = 25

i - 2 = 5 ---> i = 7

2e - 2 + 7 = 25

2e + 5 = 25

2e = 20

e = 10

j = e - 2 = 10 - 2 = 8 which is also the same as 25 - ( 10+7) = 25 - 17
