x^2-3x+2=0

 

Look for factors of 2 that add to -3

(-2)(-1) = 2,  -2 -1 = -3

 

x^2-3x+2 = (x-2)(x-1) = 0

 

If either x-2 = 0   or   x-1=0 this is zero so:

 

x = 2 or x = 1
