perimeter of a college athletic field is 96 meters:
2(L+w) = 96
L + w = 48 m {equation 1}
length is 12 meters more than the width:
L = w + 12 {equation 2}
In 1st equation substitute w+12 in place of L and solve for w
w + 12 + w = 48
2w = 36
w = 18 m width
L = w + 12 = 30 m length
