Let x = decimal form of the percentage in question
24(1+x) - x[24(1+x)] = 20.4
24 + 24x - x(24 + 24x) = 20.4
24 + 24x - 24x - 24x^2 = 20.4
-24x^2 = -3.6
x^2 = 0.15
x = 0.3873 = 38.73%>
If we multiply $24 by 1.3873 we get the increased price
Then subtract .3873(increased price) from the increased<d/div>
we should get $20.40. Try it. :-)

If you mean, as I think you did, that the percentages were the same then:
24(1+x) - x[24(1+x)] = 20.4
24 + 24x - 24x - 24x2 = 20.4
Working this out will give the value of x
Change the decimal to a percentage for final answer

I'm glad. I apologize for the repeat in comments.
When I first looked at the problem I missed that the
percentage rate should be the same so I redid it in
a comment. The comment didn't immediately show
on the page so I edited and redid the answer. Lol.
In any case, best of luck in your endeavors.
