Theodore needs to mix a 30% fungicide solution with a 60% fungicide solution to create 100 millileters of a 36% solution. How many millileters of each solution must Theodore use?

Let x = the number of ml of 30% solution used

Let y = the number of ml of 60% solution used

x + y = 100     or x = 100 - y

.30x + .60y = .36(100)    Multiply this equation by 100 to get rid of the decimal points.

30x + 60y = 36(100) = 3600

30(100-y) + 60y = 3600

3000 - 30y + 60y = 3600

30y = 600

y = 20 ml

x = 100 - y

x = 100 - 20

x = 80 ml
