Do you know what the quadratic formula is?
I am under the assumption that you do know what it is. It is hard for me to type it here without its format getting messed up.
You must also understand that in the problem: 5x2+2x-3=0 and x2+x+3=0 (copied from above)
5=a, 2=b and -3=c (don't forget about the signs in front of them-that can get you in trouble).
on the second one
1=a 1=b and 3=c (remember if there isn't a coefficient(number in front of x) it is 1.
Please respond back to me if you know what the formula is, or do not, and then I will go from there.
Your first answer will be -1+/-(squareroot)8all of this divided by/or over 5
your second answer will be
-1+/-squareroot-12 (all over)2
Please let me know if you need a walkthrough

I am not sure how to type it on here, its the -b+/-(squareroot)b2-4ac (all of that) divided by(or over) 2a
I also need to correct the second part of my equation, you cannot have a squareroot of a negative that goes into imaginary numbers. (-12) should be 12i which i=-1 so then it would be just 12. (inserted where above I had -12.
What you have is the equation to start with, but it isn't the quadratic FORMULA which you have to solve it. You can either factor it (for example) (x+4) (x-3) =using FOIL x2
+7x+12 or if you cannot factor it you use the quadratic equation from earlier. Which I cannot find a good way to copy and paste it. I hope I have helped you in some way.
