1) To find the limx->-4- we will use the first equation because that function is defined for all values smaller than -4.
Thus, limx->-4- √(-3-x)+1=√(-3-(-4))+1=2
Therfore we see that the limx->-4- f(x)=2
2) To find the limx->-4+ we will consider the third equation because that function is defined for all values bigger than -4.
Thus, limx->-4+ 3x+14=3(-4)+14
Therefore we see that the limx->-4+ f(x) =2
3) To find the limx->4, we will use the fact that if the limx->-4- = 2 and if limx->4+ = 2, then limx->-4 =2.
