you should have been taught long polynomial multiplication; put the shorter polynomial beneath the longer one; multiply the first term of the second line by each term of the upper line; then multiply the second term of the second line by each term of the upper line; finally, collect "like" terms. this is equivalent to using the distributive law, where you would multiply each term in the trinomial by the binomial (w-3u).
