f(X ) = 2X -7

 Change  f(x ) to Y

  Y = 2X -7

  Solve for X in terms of Y:

    X = (Y + 7 ) /2

   Change X to f-1 ( X) and Y for X

     f-1 (x ) = 1/2 X +7/2
Set up the equation as y=2x-7
Solve for 'x'
Switch 'x' and 'y'. This is your inverse.
