Simplify Expressions in Radicals

A. √(11−6√(2))

B. √(10+4√(6))

C. √(29−12√(5))

D. √(8+2√(15))

I have no idea how to solve these problems, so if you show work that would be greatly appreciated!

Michael J.

These are expressions, not equations.

These expressions look like the answers to questions.  Not sure if they can be simplified any further.

C. Try to write it in the form of (a - b)2
After some trial and error, I figured out that 3 and 2√5 will work.
(3 - 2√5)2 = 9 - 12√5 + 20
= 29 - 12√5
√(29−12√(5)) = (3 - 2√5)

D. This is similar to the solution of B.
Try to write it in the form of (a + b)2
√(8+2√(15)) = √(√3 + √5)2
= (√3 + √5)
(8+2√(15)) = (√3 + √5)2
