You're correct. A term can be either a number or variable in an expression. Terms are separated by operators (+ or -)

As written, yes there are 3 terms in the expression: 2x, -11x, 7. The two terms 2x and -11x are "like" terms, meaning that they can be combined: 2x - 11x = -9x. So the expression could be rewritten as -9x + 7 which would have just two terms. But as written, the expression has 3 terms.
