If the variable X changed from value=-4 to the value X=-10, what is the percent change? How do you interpret this change?

Change is new value - old value; in this case, -10 - (-4) = -6.

 

Percent change is obtained by expressing, as a %, the ratio of change to old value.

-6/-4 = 1.5 = 150% change.
