The simplest way to solve this system of equations is just to add them together (called the elimination method) since the ys will disappear.

 

6x-3y=5

9x+3y=10

15x=15

Divide both sides by 15

x=1 Now substitute back into the first equation to get y.

(6x1)-3y=5

 

Subtract 6 from each side.

(6-6)-3y=5-6

Divide both sides by -3

y=1/3.

 

So the solution point is(1,1/3)
