How would I figure out if the amount of 4 in. tiles I have are enough to cover my table, or how much more I would need?

If I have a table and the area is 36 in. by 24 in. and you have 45 tiles that are 4 in. Would I have enough tiles to cover the table? If not, how many more would I need?

Assuming the table is rectangular and the

tiles are in 4x4 inch squares:

 

Table:

Length = 36 inches

Width = 24 inches

 

36/4 = 9 tiles long

24/4 = 6 tiles wide

 

9(6) = 54

You need 54 tiles to evenly

cover the table.  You have 45.
