jesus has a rectangular beach blanket which measures 5 1/4 by 3 1/2 feet long. he has a second blanket which is similar and has a width of 31 1/2 feet. what is the length of the second blanket

  31 and 1/2 =  63/2

 

  3 and 1/2 = 7/2

 

dividing them  63/2 divided by 7/2 = 63/2 x 2/7   <--- KFC : keep, flip, change

so the second blanket is 9 times as big.

 

So 5 and 1/4 x 9  = 21/4 x 9/1  = 189/4   = 47 1/4
