Hi Kali, set up a system of equations to solve this problem. Let c represent the children, and a represent the adults.
Equation 1, number of people entering the park:
c + a = 248
Equation 2, fees collected:
1.5c + 4.00a = 672
System of equations:
c + a = 248
1.5c + 4.00a = 672
------------------------
To solve, multiply equation 1 by -4. This will eliminate the a terms:
-4c - 4a = - 992
1.5c + 4a = 672
----------------------
-2.5c = -320
c = 128
Substitute in equation 1:
128 + a = 248
a = 120
There were 128 children entering the park and 120 adults.
