Hi Ralph,
Less technical way to find whether a function f(x) is one-to-one is checking whether a horizontal line intersects the graph of f(x) at more than one point. If it does, then f(x) is not one-to-one.
You can use a graph calculator for plotting f(x) = 2x^3 - 7. You will see that it is one-to-one.
