Hi Lauren
Is it
6 = (sqrt 2) Z -3 - 3 ?
Then
6 +3 = √2 Z - 3
or 9 = √2 Z -3
Z 3 = √2 / 9
Z = (2) 1/6 / (9)1/3 =

PROBLEM IS NOT PARENTHESIZED CORRECTLY.
TUTOR NADIA S. did not recognize that!
Student MUST correctly show exactly what is supposed to be under the radical (square root) symbol.
It's obvious that -3 -3 wouldn't have been both outside the radical.

Lauren,
Please use parentheses. Did you mean
6 = √(2z - 3) - 3
or
6 = √(2z) - 3 - 3 ?
Nadia gave you a good solution for the latter. I will give you a solution for the former.
6 = √(2z - 3) - 3
9 = √(2z - 3)
81 = 2z - 3
84 = 2z
z = 84/2 = 42
