Two choices:  Factor the trinomial into two binomials, set each one equal to 0, and then solve each one.  Or, what I'd probably do, toss it into the quadratic formula.

In the first case, you'd end up with something like (x + anumber)(x + anothernumber) = 0 and break it into two equations:

x + anumber = 0                         x + anothernumber = 0

In the second case, if you haven't covered the quadratic formula yet, you can't use it.  If you have, simply refer to that section of your textbook.

Since the highest term is x^2 (a quadratic equation), then you have three options to solve this:

1) Factoring and setting each factor =0

2) Quadratic Formula

3) Completing the Square

4) graph it and see where the "zeros" are

Looking at the numbers we are given, I would try factoring first and then the quadratic formula. Double check your answers/solutions by graphing.
