What are these letters doing in my equations? Here comes algebra!
Kaylee, I have a feeling you're using a talk-to-text app to post these questions. It's really hard for tutors to make sense of questions that get messed up with those apps, so make sure you're talking clearly and slowly, and check what's on the screen before you submit. Kenneth and I often "knock heads" on these forums, but he's right on here. You've got to be more careful.
Meantime, I think this one says that tripling the girl's height would be the same as adding 147.5 inches to it.
So that means that 3h would equal h + 147.5.
Subtract h from both sides and you get 2h = 147.5
Divide both sides by 2 and you get h = 147.5 / 2
In other words, Katie's height is 73.75 inches. (6 foot 1-and-3/4).
