Grain Delivery Word Problem

I have tried this problem several times but keep getting 400 grains which my teacher said was not the answer. Please help, here is the problem again.

Youve just been hired at a company by a delivery company and given your first assignment. It is to deliver as much grain as possible from a storage facility to a city located 800 miles away. You initially have 2400 pounds of grain, but are given only one ox and a cart with which to make the delivery. The cart will hold up to 800 pounds, but the ox eats 1 pound of grain per mile traveled. What is the maximum amount of grain that you can deliver to the city?

we can only carry 800 pounds of grain.

The city is 800 miles away

The ox eats 1 pound per mile...

 

The ox eats 800 pounds of grain ... 1 pound per mile for 800 miles.

All you could carry was 800 pounds so you arrive with zero pounds.

 

No grain gets delivered.
