y=12/x    has an inverse relationship between x and y.  If one variable increases, then the other variable decreases.  The same goes for the opposite.

 

So if x increases, what do you think will happen to y?

The givens are:

3) x increases

 

You can find what happens to y by plugging in numbers for x.  For example, if:

x=1, y=12

x=2, y=6

x=3, y=4

x=4, y=3

...

x=12, y=1

x=13, y= less than 1

 

As you can see, as x increases, y decreases.
